The B Scene
Frequently Asked Questions
Filmmakers & Production Teams
Q: What kinds of products or businesses can I place in my film?
A: Everything from coffee mugs to car washes. We specialize in real, everyday brands that bring authenticity to your story - snacks for crafty, set, production office, or your rooms after a long day, clothing, skincare, home goods, restaurants, you name it! If you've thought of it, we probably have a film-friendly business ready and willing to help.
Q: Do vendors expect to get their products back?
A: It depends. We coordinate all logistics with the vendor, including whether items are gifted or returned post-shoot. If something is irreplaceable, it'll be treated accordingly. We're exploring options for reusing placed products in community-good initiatives.
Q: Do you have services other than product placement?
A: Absolutely. We work with composers, musicians, and property owners. We can also serve as your local liaison or consultant. Feel free to reach out.
Q: Are there requirements before you work with us?
A: We're happy to talk whenever you're ready. We begin matching you with placements or locations once your project is 75% funded - but one of our goals is to help you cross that finish line. If you're close, let's talk. We may be able to help get you there.
Q: Does the entire production have to work with you?
A: Nope! We're happy to work with any department, though we'll need permission from producers to access stills or promote placements.
Businesses & Vendors
Q: How much does it cost to have my business featured in a film?
A: It depends. More than 90% of our placements are non-paid - meaning businesses donate or loan items in exchange for exposure and engagement. However, some prominent placements (like a character eating your chips on camera) may require a fee. That doesn't mean it's out of reach - we work hard to make opportunities accessible and find the right fit for every business and every budget.
Q: Will I know where and how my product is being used?
A: Yes. You'll always be consulted for alignment, and you can decline projects that don't fit. We follow up post-production with next steps.
Q: How do I get my products back?
A: We coordinate pickup and returns when necessary. If a production gifts items to cast/crew, you'll be notified beforehand.
Q: Do I need my own Shopify store?
A: No. We can host your product and route sales through our checkout (we keep a small fee). If you already have a Shopify store, we'll integrate. Either way, you'll get your own dashboard to track sales, orders, and performance in real time.
Q: Can you help me assess if this is a good fit?
A: Yes. Whether through onboarding or a discovery call, we'll help assess readiness and refer you to support programs if needed.
Property Owners (Personal + Business)
Q: Will someone be filming in my home while I'm there?
A: Usually no - productions often request homeowners vacate during filming. You'll be
compensated, and location teams manage your space.
Q: How many days does this usually take?
A: There's typically a tech scout pre-filming, then Prep, Shoot, and Strike days. You're paid for all days except the tech scout.
Q: Do I get paid?
A: Yes. Location fees depend on use, access, and length of time. We'll help negotiate on your behalf unless you want to negotiate for yourself.
Q: How much should I charge?
A: Rates vary based on usage. We'll help set boundaries and establish fair compensation.
Q: What if something gets damaged?
A: Productions carry insurance. We confirm coverage before anything happens on site.
Musicians, Composers & Artists
Q: What kind of music are you looking for?
A: Everything from full scores to licensed individual tracks. We aim for a variety of moods and styles.
Q: Do I get credit?
A: Yes. Royalties or licensing may apply. We also offer manager support if you don't have
representation.
Q: Will I know how and where my work is used?
A: Yes. You'll get a brief and the option to decline if the project doesn't align with your work or values.
Q: When are you coming to my area?
A: Soon! We're scaling intentionally to maintain quality and community. Join our list to be notified.
Q: Do you have a referral program?
A: Yes. We love referrals and reward them. Join the Scene - click to apply.
Q: How do you work with nonprofits?
A: We offer two options: referral partnerships and fundraisers with vendor shops. Reach out to collaborate.
Q: Can I buy stock?
A: No. The B Scene is privately held and moving toward an employee-owned model. No public investment is available.
